Lead Well · Live Well · a research-based performance architecture for the personal and professional spheres
“Nearing the end of my career, I wish I would have had this program 30 years ago. I would have been a different leader and a different husband.”David · a leader who completed the Protocol
“Ten l’chacham v’yechkam od.” Give to the wise, and they grow wiser still. This program is dedicated to leadership growth, personally and professionally: an investment in a strong team. We ask our students and faculty to keep growing, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Many of us use Dr. Carol Dweck’s growth mindset research to inspire our students; this year we invest that same research in ourselves. Becoming is better than being.
This page is your home for the whole season: every chapter, every tool, every date, in the order you will meet them. The architecture is shared; what you build with it is entirely your own. I built The PRIME Protocol for myself first, and I have carried it to more than 2,000 leaders and educators since. I am glad to be building it with you.
Lisa Imel, M.Ed.
Five phases, eight chapters, five PRIME Life Domains™, one cadence. Two doors, one architecture.
Our mission. “Posnack School draws upon the Jewish ethos of hard work and study to produce graduates of the highest caliber… Our school promotes academic excellence as a central goal.” The Posnack Way is more than an education; it is a lifelong connection. Everything PRIME builds is tested against it; in Chapter 1 you write it in your own hand and ask which line you most believe.
What it is. A performance architecture, not a wellness program and not executive coaching. It rebuilds the systems each leader operates, in the personal sphere and the professional sphere, and it is deployed across the leadership team so the culture changes around you as well as within you.
Two doors. Some leaders arrive stretched thin and want a way back. Others arrive performing well and want to go further and protect what fuels it. Posnack walks mostly through the second door. The architecture is the same; only the entry differs.
Three levels. PRIME works on you, on your team, and on your organization, in both spheres of your life, whether you work in the home or outside it.
The vocabulary. Burnout is the cost. Resilience is the capacity. Performance is the outcome.
The eight chapters sit inside five phases: Purpose, Restoration, Intentionality, Mastery, Elevation. You move through them once this season, in order, because each one builds on the last: you cannot audit your energy until you know your baseline, and you cannot choose priorities until you know your WHY. The cycle then turns every quarter and returns you to Purpose, so the architecture is renewed rather than finished.
Installing the architecture takes a season. Keeping it running takes a rhythm. Daily, fifteen minutes of PRIME Calibration™ at the end of the workday closes the day on purpose instead of by exhaustion. Weekly, one protected Friday Focus hour closes the week so the weekend is yours and Monday starts clear. Quarterly, the PRIME Promise re-rates your domains, rewrites your lists, re-ranks your priorities, and celebrates what you built. Every chapter adds one question to the daily practice; nothing is added to your calendar beyond these three.
If you write in it, it is an Installation. Part One holds 53 of them, each tied to a book page and a Workbook page, and each one leaves something behind: a written WHY, a Wellness Action Plan, an Energy Map, a Priority Matrix. Those pages become your PRIME Blueprint, built page by page across all eight chapters, with one committed page per chapter as its spine. The Blueprint is what the PRIME Promise renews each quarter. Nothing here is a worksheet you complete and forget; it is the operating system you will run next year.
Five domains, two spheres, one life. The domains carry the same five names as the phases, P·R·I·M·E: Purpose (why I do what I do), Restoration (health, sleep, emotional well-being), Intentionality (time, boundaries, finances, home), Mastery (partner and family, friendships, colleagues and team), and Elevation (play, creativity, community, contribution). Each domain has three focus areas, fifteen in all, and each runs in the personal sphere and the professional sphere at once. A leader thriving in Mastery at work and depleted in Mastery at home is still one person, and the depletion travels. You rate all fifteen areas in the Self-Assessment now, again at Baseline 2 in January, and at every PRIME Promise afterward; the distance between readings is how you and Lisa measure what the season built.
Two private Baseline sessions · The PRIME Protocol™ book, Part One now and Part Two on November 18 · slide decks for every chapter · confidential, norm-referenced assessments · small-group coaching · this resource page · support as needed throughout.
Your PRIME Blueprint, built page by page across all eight chapters and every Installation: your WHY, your Wellness Priorities and Action Plan, your Energy Map, your Priority Matrix and goals, your calendar, your delegation system, your Positivity Zone, your PRIME Promise, and everything you write along the way.
A completed Blueprint, two readings to measure the distance travelled, a daily and weekly practice that is already yours, and one standard of excellence held in common by the leadership team.
Two retreat days teach the architecture; the season builds it.
Three things this week, then the tools you will use all season.
The Maslach Burnout Inventory™ (email invitation from [email protected], about 20 minutes, group results only), the PRIME Life Domains Self-Assessment, and the PRIME Baseline Survey, before Baseline 1. All three are under Assessments.
Fifteen minutes of PRIME Calibration at the end of the workday, and one Friday Focus hour. Guides under Daily practice.
Every tool below is a fillable PDF. Open it in Adobe Acrobat (free: desktop · iPhone and iPad · Android), not in the browser window, so your writing saves. On a laptop: click the button, open the numbered file, then use the download arrow and open it in Acrobat. On a phone or tablet: tap the button, open the file, then “Open in Acrobat.” Keep every file in one folder; you will bring them to Baseline 1. Nothing needs printing.
Every button opens the shared files folder; the files there are numbered to match the button (File 03 is the Workbook, and so on). Open the files folder.
Orientation, the architecture, and the first four chapters. The Installations are built together in Activation.
Every chapter adds one page to your PRIME Blueprint and one question to your daily Calibration. Book pages refer to Part One.
Crystallize your personal and professional compass
“You cannot lead from a purpose you have never written down.”
Measure what you're building on
“A reading is a location, not a verdict.”
Run your Energy Audit
“Every drain has a lever, and every fuel deserves protection.”
Build your Priority Matrix
“The people we love deserve more than our remainder.”
The architecture is what we install. The cadence is what keeps it running.

Taken now and again at the close. Confidential: your individual answers are seen by you and Lisa alone; the school receives pooled group results only.
Confidentiality. Maslach results reach the school only as pooled group results. Your Life Domains Self-Assessment and Baseline Survey are seen by you and Lisa alone. Nothing you write in an Installation is shared with anyone unless you choose to share it. Accountability partners, if you choose one, hold what you share in confidence under the agreement.
The PRIME Life Domains Self-Assessment and the PRIME Baseline Survey are research-based reflection tools developed for The PRIME Protocol™; they are not clinical or validated instruments. The PRIME Protocol is a performance architecture delivered through coaching and systems; it is not therapy and does not replace medical or mental health care.
Short reads between sessions. Each button opens the files folder at its numbered file.
Six articles by Lisa are added to this page this week.
Six short papers on the same architecture at work across sectors. Leadership and Culture speak to Posnack directly; Finance, Healthcare, and Real Estate show the pattern holds wherever people carry a high load.

The practical ones. Anything else, email Lisa.
No. Every tool on this page is a fillable PDF. Download it once from the files folder, open it in Adobe Acrobat (free), type directly into it, and save after every session. Print only what you prefer to hold: many leaders print the Blueprint pages and the affirmation cards.
Fifteen minutes of PRIME Calibration at the end of the workday and one protected Friday Focus hour each week. That is the whole cadence until the quarterly PRIME Promise in January.
Your Life Domains Self-Assessment and Baseline Survey are seen by you and Lisa alone. Maslach results reach the school only as pooled group results. Nothing written in an Installation is shared unless you choose to share it.
It arrives by email from [email protected]. Check spam and promotions folders first; if it is not there, email Lisa and a new invitation will be sent the same day. Plan about 20 minutes to complete it before Baseline 1.
A private 30-minute conversation with Lisa, November 9–16, no Fridays. Bring your Life Domains Self-Assessment and Baseline Survey. It sets your starting point; Baseline 2 in January measures the distance travelled.
It is optional and recommended. The agreement (Installation I.2) is under Day One. Partners hold what you share in confidence; the weekly check-in is fifteen minutes.
The slides and the Workbook pages for that session are posted here the same day, and the afternoon small-group segments cover the same Installations. Email Lisa to be placed in a segment.
Part Two of the book, its Workbook, and the Chapter 5–8 resources are added to this page on November 18, Retreat Day Two.
Lisa built The PRIME Protocol™ from the inside. An assistant principal when the Fulbright came through, she led at the summit of her profession with nothing built underneath the person, and she rebuilt her life with the same discipline she had given her schools: a written purpose, an honest baseline, a clear view of what drained and fueled her, priorities she chose instead of inherited, and a daily and weekly cadence that kept all of it running.
In more than two decades of coaching, teaching, and speaking to more than 2,000 leaders and educators, she has watched the same pattern in principals and physicians, partners and general managers, teachers and chief executives: the work was never the problem by itself. What broke people was carrying it with nothing built underneath. The PRIME Protocol installs that structure, for the people who carry everyone else’s growth, so they stay whole and the ones who love them get them back.
